Antique Carved Green Jade Tigers Necklace - Medium
Description
I acquired a jade collection from someone who passed away in Hawaii, I purchased from an antique shop. We do not know the age as they were sold by the person's children. After research we have found that this is old antique Chinese jade, featuring tigers. I added the chain to up-cycle it into a one of a kind statement necklace! I added a photo I took from the Natural history museum in NYC as a piece resembles this jade carving style from Ming dynasty 1368-1644.
The tiger is one of the oldest protectors in Chinese culture. This pendant features two tigers standing guard. Regarded as king among beasts, because of its association with the Taoist deity Heavenly Master Zhang (張天師), the tiger is believed to be most powerful at warding off evil. Called the stone of heaven, jade has worn been for centuries by Chinese royalty.
This jade sculpture is a stunning addition to any collection of fine jade, antique Asian art, or mythological treasures. It’s not just a work of art, but a conversation piece, a symbol of power, and a testament to the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.
