Antique Carved Jade Dragon Butterfly Necklace
Description
I acquired a jade collection from someone who passed away in Hawaii, I purchased from an antique shop. We do not know the age as they were sold by the person's children. After research we have found that this is old antique Chinese celadon and russet jade, 2 carved dragons, carved on both sides, and happen to also look like a butterfly! I added the chain to up-cycle it into a one of a kind statement necklace! I added a photo I took from the Natural history museum in NYC as a piece resembles this jade dragon carving from Ming dynasty 1368-1644.
The dragon is the imperial emblem of the Emperors in China, especially from the
from the Han period where their coat of arms shows two dragons fighting for the
fiery pearl. The dragon is a supernatural creature and is the symbol of power, strength, wisdom and goodness. It represents the utmost in accomplishment: good luck and a
successful life. It is also believed to be the guardian of hidden treasures. It symbolizes success, growth, and transformation. Called the stone of heaven, jade has worn
jade for centuries by Chinese royalty.
The butterfly signifies long life and love.
This jade sculpture is a stunning addition to any collection of fine jade, antique Asian art, or mythological treasures. It’s not just a work of art, but a conversation piece, a symbol of power, and a testament to the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.
